Symphony in 3 movements

Organ solo

20 minutes

First performed by Stuart Nicholson at St. Paul’s Cathedral,

London, September 1997.

“Symphony is a terse and gripping work based on three quotations from Dante’s

Inferno. The three movements have cyclic links. The outer ones are driven by

relentless ostinati, and the middle Andante evokes a strange and abstract atmosphere.

Conceived with a large, romantic instrument in mind, the work makes many demands

on the performer. If you are considering adding a challenging contemporary work

to your repertoire, do consider buying a copy.”
